ad'vocate, n.
One who pleads for another; one who speaks on behalf of; professional pleader
ad'vocate, v.t.
Plead for; defend; recommend publicly
Historically, advocacy might be thought of as a legal term, such as an advocate in court or in the political process.
In today's health care environment, where dollars, health care professionals and resources are severely limited, anyone ill or unable to speak up for himself or herself must have an advocate to ensure that the most is made of whatever resources are available.
Invariably this task falls on the shoulders of families. But what happens when family members are themselves frail, overburdened or unavailable?
We have long seen it as one of our roles to be there to speak on your behalf.
Integracare will be there to speak on behalf of our clients or to support those family members working in this extremely stressful environment.
